We would be delighted to host your Wedding or Civil Partnership ceremony. We welcome couples of all denominations or faiths, as well as couples who are ‘spiritual but not religious’ or Humanist. We ask that you attend some of our Sunday services in order to understand our liberal Unitarian approach to ensure this is right for you. Our Minister can officiate and help you design a ceremony which reflects your special relationship. The Chapel has its own Registrar so the legal marriage ceremony can be held as part of the wedding service.

Same Sex Weddings

As part of our commitment to LGBTQi+ rights, we are proud of the Unitarian involvement with the campaign to support the Equal Marriages Bill. Our Chapel was one of the first churches in London to apply for and be registered to conduct same sex marriages. It is one of the few places of worship where couples of all gender combinations may have a spiritual ceremony to celebrate their love and solemnise their relationship. We also offer Civil Partnership to Marriage conversion ceremonies.

Chapel building and facilities

Chapel Building & Facilities

The Chapel itself was built in 1862 and expanded in 1885. It was built in the Gothic style with vaulted ceiling and stone arches. It contains a number of beautiful stained glass windows by artists such as William Morris, Sir Edward Burne-Jones and Henry Holiday. There are sculptures, furnishings and plaques of historical significance. The atmosphere is one of calm and reverence. The Chapel is situated on Rosslyn Hill in a quiet oasis of peace. There is also a pretty garden where photos can be taken. Biodegradable confetti, rose petals and rice may be scattered outside the Chapel. The Chapel can be dressed with your own flowers and candles. We provide the use of our Steinway Model D Concert Piano. Our Director of Music can be hired at an extra cost to play the piano and organ.

Parking and travel

Although the Chapel has a car park, there is very limited availability so we advise guests to please use public transport where possible (see ‘How to Get Here’ below).

There is a loading bay on Rosslyn Hill, just outside the main Chapel entrance, which you can apply to suspend via Camden Council. This allows a double decker bus, or other large vehicle, to be parked for the duration of the wedding service in order to take your guest to your chosen reception venue.

Travel by public transport

Tube: Hampstead tube station (Northern Line, Edgeware branch) is an 8 min walk away.

Buses: 46 and 268 buses stop nearby.

Train: Hampstead Heath Overground is a 10min walk away.
