Saving London’s Birds, and Other Adventures: Finding W. H. Hudson

A Lecture by Conor Jameson

Conservation pioneer and author W. H. Hudson came to London from Argentina in 1874, living here till his death in 1922. The talk describes his life in London as the only man supporting the women who founded the RSPB, and his struggle to overcome the odds of poverty and lack of formal education and establish himself as a figure of such renown that a monument and sanctuary to his memory was unveiled by Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin in 1925.

This event is free to Society members. Tickets will be available for non-members at £15 via Eventbrite.
