About the Event
Soul Fuel Sunday is a new monthly gathering of poets, storytellers and songwriters held at Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel. These intimate, unique evenings are not to be missed, offering audiences the rare opportunity to hear spoken word artists and songwriters perform completely unplugged, supported only by the natural acoustics of our gorgeous neo-Gothic Chapel walls. Each month, experience performances from musical artists interspersed with spoken word, poetry and meditations. Each event features guests hand picked by Reverend Kate Dean and Soul Fuel Sunday curator Joey Clarkson.
This month we welcome storyteller Wilf Merttens and musicians Two Ways Home and Michael Clancy:
Two Ways Home are the songwriters and folk-rock/country/Americana duo: Isabella MaK, originally from Vienna, Austria and Lewis Fowler, who grew up in Gloucestershire, UK. Opposites attract, which is certainly one of the reasons the pair were first drawn to each other. They may have stark contrast but music has always been their middle ground with their voices blending effortlessly. An expedition to Nashville helped the two hone their sound combining traditional country storytelling, Austrian Alpine folk-lore and British innovation, which has taken them around the world, playing shows across the UK, Europe and America. Now based in London, they stand together in this time of uncertainty, striving for unity. Two Ways Home have had to rethink their journey after releasing their debut album moments before the Corona pandemic took hold and made it impossible to play live shows. Navigating their way through recent ups and downs the pair have managed to stay present, bringing a little bit of joy through regular live streams and other content.
Michael Clancy is a singer-songwriter hailing from Colchester, England. He grew up absorbing the music of the great American singer-songwriters (James Taylor, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen to name a few), before moving to London at the age of 18 to pursue his own musical journey. Michael then toured the world accompanying various artists, and on his travels began to find his own musical voice.
All are welcome! Join us the first Sunday of every month at 7pm. Get your monthly fill, at Soul Fuel Sunday.
