June Reflections, 2021

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

They are enlightened who join in this play knowing it as play, for people suffer only because they take as serious what the gods made for fun.

Our theme for last June was supposed to be Play, but under the circumstances, still in a national lockdown and fearful of what the pandemic might bring, it didn’t seem to be the right thing to be celebrating. As we start to open up it's only natural for people to feel anxious about this new phase in the life of our community and society at large. We have been enclosed, shut off and disconnected for so long. Some may have even felt a sense of institutionalisation as they have been confined to their homes for such a long time, and a return to activities we haven’t been able to enjoy for over a year is bound to bring up a mix of anxiety and excitement.

Our theme for this month recalls happier times and reminds us that life is meant to be lived and our purpose on this earth is to live our best life. We have been working hard to ensure that the Chapel is a Covid-secure venue and that everyone feels safe and comfortable. Our new website will enable us to manage the pre-registration which is required due to our limited numbers and we are really looking forward to being together again!
